ColCap Financial Group (ColCap), a leading Australian-headquartered non-bank lender, has priced a new record Australian non-bank residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) issue sized at $3 billion, just as it approaches a two-decade mortgage lending milestone.

The Triton Bond Trust 2026-2 RMBS transaction was upsized from an initial market guidance of $1 billion following strong demand from both international and domestic investors. The issue was secured over a diversified portfolio of prime Australian mortgages.

The $3 billion issue is the largest ever RMBS in Australian non-bank lending history, surpassing ColCap’s previous Australian record-breaking $2.7 billion RMBS earlier this year, when excluding recent large bank portfolio sales undertaken using securitisation structures.

The transaction brings ColCap’s total prime RMBS issuance over 20 years to approximately $37 billion through its Triton, Vermillion and Molossus programs in Australia and the UK, a story which began with its first home loan written in October 2006.

CEO and co-founder, Andrew Chepul, said ColCap had built a reputation over two decades as a trusted, programmatic prime RMBS issuer delivering financial outcomes for investors and distribution partners while providing competitive home loan choices for customers.

"
It’s fitting that our latest RMBS, upsized on the back of investor demand, comes as we prepare to celebrate 20 years as a non-bank lender in Australia. This is a testament to the value we continue to create for our investors, our partners and our customers."

ColCap Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer, Ilias Pavlopoulos, said ColCap from the beginning wanted to make an impact through prime mortgage lending, by providing innovative product offerings in areas that are often underserved by Australia's banks.

Now with $23 billion in assets under management, and with lending operations in Australia and the UK, he said it was the long-term relationships forged with mortgage managers and brokers, as well as its investors, that had made ColCap's growth and success possible.

"Underpinning ColCap’s 20-year growth story has been our multi-channel distribution strategy. This included the acquisition of the oldest mortgage management book in Australia, Origin Mortgage Management Services (Origin MMS), from ANZ Bank back in 2012."

"
Third party brokers have since embraced our offering, as we seek to deliver competitively priced home loans with features to suit client needs. We look forward to building on this as we look at strategic innovation and growth opportunities in the current market."

As well as reaching end customers through mortgage manager distribution partners via Origin MMS, ColCap offers home loans to brokers directly through its Granite and Molo Finance brands in Australia and the UK, and via white label offering Zeus by LMG with aggregation firm LMG, which recently celebrated $1 billion in originations less than 12 months after launch. ColCap’s distribution footprint also includes online mortgage lender Homestar Finance, principal sponsor of Big Bash League cricket team Sydney Thunder for nine years, and Austrata Finance, which provides finance to strata owners corporations.

ColCap Treasurer, David Carroll, said the record investor appetite was supported by the extremely strong collateral performance of the issue’s underlying mortgage portfolio, which is a true vanilla prime portfolio with an average Loan-To-Value (LTV) ratio of just over 64%.

"
The ability to upsize our latest Triton issuance to a record level reflects the strength of the long-term relationships we have built with investors over many years,"
David Carroll
ColCap Treasurer

ColCap will continue to look at bringing new innovative solutions to the market where it will serve the needs of prime borrowers in Australia and the UK. Andrew Chepul said the group also sees strategic possibility in further expanding distribution partnerships.

"
We started out just before the GFC, and many thought we wouldn’t make it through,One thing that served us then is seeing opportunity where others see adversity – it's an outlook that's a part of us now as we continue to finance what's next."

National Australia Bank acted as Arranger and as a lead manager, with additional lead managers Commonwealth Bank of Australia, DBS Bank, Deutsche Bank, Natixis, RBC Capital Markets, Standard Chartered Bank, United Overseas Bank and Westpac Institutional Bank.
